Which problem we solve
The main problem we solve is the premature degradation of pedestrian paths – cracking, sinking of pavers, displacement of curbs, and puddle formation. These defects are the result of incorrectly executed or completely missing bases, insufficient compaction, use of unsuitable materials, and lack of adequate drainage. An unprofessionally built path not only looks bad but also creates real risks of tripping and falling, especially for children and the elderly. In winter, trapped moisture in the base freezes, expands, and lifts the paving, and in spring, after thawing, cavities remain, leading to subsidence and the characteristic 'wobbling' of pavers. Geodesic surveying and leveling
Precise determination of the route, slopes, and levels of the future path with a total station. We guarantee proper drainage of surface water with a minimum slope of 1.5% and exact adherence to design dimensions, avoiding water retention.
Machine and manual excavation
Excavation to the design elevation, typically between 30 and 45 cm deep, depending on the soil type and expected load. Includes removal of roots, old pavements, and construction debris from the base.
Laying geotextile membrane
Installation of high-quality polypropylene geotextile (min. 150 gr/m²) between the excavation and the first layer of the base. This step prevents soil mixing with the crushed stone and improves drainage and stability.
Construction of load-bearing base
Laying and layered compaction of two layers of crushed stone. The first layer is 15-20 cm of fraction 0-63 mm, and the second is 10-15 cm of fraction 0-32 mm. Each layer is compacted with a vibratory plate to at least 95% Proctor density.
Installation of concealed or visible curbs
Placement of concrete or plastic curbs on a semi-dry concrete base of class C16/20. Curbs serve as formwork, limit the paving, and prevent its lateral displacement over time.
Laying leveling layer
Creation of a perfectly level bed for the pavers from sand or screed with a thickness of 3-5 cm. This layer allows final adjustments of the levels of each individual paver and ensures uniform distribution of the load.
Laying final paving
Precise installation of selected pavers or slabs according to the client-approved design (herringbone, linear arrangement, etc.). Includes precise cutting of pavers along edges and around obstacles such as manholes or trees.
Vibratory compaction of paving
Final compaction of the entire surface with a vibratory plate with a rubber mat, to settle the pavers into the leveling layer and achieve a flat and stable surface, without damaging their face layer.
Grouting with quartz or polymeric sand
Filling the joints between pavers, most often with washed and dried quartz sand. At the client's request, we also offer grouting with polymeric sand Mapei Mapestop, which hardens and prevents the growth of grass and weeds.
Cleaning and handover of the site
Complete cleaning of the work site, removal of all construction waste, and final inspection of the completed path together with the client. Handover of the site with a signed protocol and a 15-year written warranty.
Our 8-step process for constructing pedestrian paths
We follow a strictly defined technological sequence to guarantee quality and durability for every square meter.

Step 1: Inspection and consultation
We begin with a free on-site inspection, where our technical manager discusses your requirements, takes measurements, and analyzes the existing terrain. Access for machinery, soil conditions, and drainage needs are evaluated. Based on this, a detailed quote including all activities and materials is prepared.

Step 2: Design and marking
After accepting the quote, we mark the exact route of the path with stakes and spray according to the approved plan. We define the final levels and slopes to ensure optimal drainage, using a laser level for maximum accuracy. All manholes, trees, and other elements are marked for bypassing.

Step 3: Excavation and base preparation
We perform excavation of earth masses to the required depth, usually 35 cm. The bottom of the excavation is cleaned, leveled, and compacted with a rammer. Then a geotextile is laid, which prevents the soil from mixing with the load-bearing layers and improves the long-term stability of the path.

Step 4: Construction of load-bearing layers
We lay a first layer of coarse crushed stone fraction (0-63 mm, thickness ~20 cm), which is evenly spread and compacted with a heavy vibratory plate. On top of it, a second, leveling layer of finer fraction (0-32 mm, thickness ~10 cm) is laid, which is again rolled and compacted until a flat and firm surface is achieved.

Step 5: Curb installation and sand bed laying
We install the curbs on a class C16/20 concrete bed, leveling them precisely. They form the frame of the path. After the concrete hardens, a sand bed 3-5 cm thick is spread and leveled with a screed between the curbs, serving as the base for the pavers.

Step 6: Paver laying
We start laying the pavers from one end, following the chosen pattern. Each paver is placed tightly next to its neighbors, leaving joints of 2-3 mm. Edges and curves are formed by precise cutting of pavers with a professional guillotine or diamond disc, to achieve a clean and finished look.

Step 7: Grouting and vibrating
Once all pavers are laid, the joints are filled with sieved quartz sand. Then the entire paving is passed over with a vibratory plate with a rubber mat. The vibration causes the sand to compact the joints and settle the pavers into the sand bed, locking them into a stable system. The process is repeated until the joints are completely filled.

Step 8: Final activities and acceptance
The path is thoroughly swept of residual sand. The entire work area is cleaned of construction waste. A joint inspection with the client is carried out for acceptance of the work. A handover protocol is signed, and our 15-year written quality warranty is issued.

Concrete pavers Semmelrock / VJF (6 cm)
We use vibro-pressed two-layer concrete pavers class I with a thickness of 6 cm, suitable for pedestrian loads. They have a compressive strength of over 40 MPa and low water absorption (<6%), which makes them extremely resistant to freeze-thaw cycles. They are available in a variety of colors and textures, including those with surface treatment for increased resistance to dirt.
Geotextile TenCate Polyfelt TS 20
We lay non-woven geotextile made of 100% polypropylene with a density of 180 gr/m². This material has high tensile strength and excellent filtration properties. It separates the soil from the load-bearing structure of the path, prevents the loss of fine particles from the base, and ensures trouble-free drainage, which is crucial for preventing subsidence.
Crushed stone for base (Fractions 0-63mm and 0-32mm)
The base of the path is built from two types of certified crushed stone from a quarry. The lower load-bearing layer (20 cm) is of fraction 0-63mm for maximum stability and drainage. The upper leveling layer (10 cm) is of fraction 0-32mm, which allows finer profiling and better compaction. The material has controlled grain size content and purity.
Polymeric jointing sand Mapei Mapestop
As a premium option, we offer grouting with single-component polymeric sand. After moistening, it hardens to a strong but elastic joint. It prevents 100% growth of grass and moss, erosion of the joint from rain and cleaning, and penetration of ants. It is suitable for slopes up to 15% and is resistant to pressure washing.
Concrete class C16/20 for curbs
For the bed and strengthening of curbs, we use concrete class C16/20, delivered from a certified concrete batching plant or prepared on site with strict adherence to proportions. This class of concrete provides the necessary strength (20 MPa) for stable fixing of curbs and taking lateral pressure from the paving, preventing their displacement.
Paver impregnator Sika Sikagard-703 W
For additional protection, especially in areas like Varna with high humidity and salt spray, we recommend a final treatment with a water-based impregnator. Sikagard-703 W creates a hydrophobic effect ('wet dew' effect), which reduces water absorption, protects against dirt, oil stains, and facilitates cleaning, without changing the color or appearance of the pavers.
