What we deliver and which problem we solve
What we deliver
We at Infra Remonti EOOD design and build concrete pathways with high load-bearing capacity and durability for various applications – from private yards and gardens to park alleys and industrial zones. Our approach includes a detailed site survey, selection of the optimal concrete mix and reinforcement, and precise execution of all process stages, including drainage and jointing. We use modern machinery for excavation and laying, such as laser levels for accurate slope and vibratory plates for compacting the base. Our teams are trained to work efficiently in urban environments like Varna and Burgas, where space is often limited, as well as in more open areas around Plovdiv and Sofia, adapting to specific climatic and geological conditions – from the maritime climate with high humidity and salinity to mountainous regions with lower temperatures and snow cover. We pay attention to details such as resistance to abrasion, freezing, and chemicals, which are especially important for pathways exposed to atmospheric conditions.
Which problem we solve
Improperly constructed pathways lead to a number of problems: subsidence, cracking, water retention, and ice formation in winter, which is dangerous and expensive to maintain. Avoiding these problems is our key advantage. We prevent structural defects through the proper selection of concrete thickness (minimum 10 cm, often 15-20 cm), the correct aggregate fraction, and precise execution of expansion joints, which accommodate the expansion and contraction of the concrete. Otherwise, the surface deteriorates quickly, cracks appear that allow water to penetrate the base, causing erosion and subsidence. In coastal areas like Varna and Burgas, corrosion of the reinforcement from the saline environment is a specific risk that we eliminate by using appropriate admixtures and sufficient concrete cover. In areas with heavy loads or intense traffic, inadequate load-bearing capacity can lead to rapid deformation and the need for complete replacement. Our technical solutions ensure stability and longevity, avoiding the need for expensive and frequent repairs.

What the Construction of Concrete Pathways by Infra Remonti EOOD Includes
Each concrete pathway project is complex and tailored to the client's needs and the site's specifics. Our standard service package includes the following components to guarantee quality and durability:
Preliminary Site Survey and Consultation
We conduct a free on-site survey, discuss the client's needs and requirements, evaluate the terrain, and determine the optimal dimensions, slopes, and functionality of the pathway.
Preparation of Project Documentation
We develop a detailed technical design, including drawings, material specifications, and details for the reinforcement, drainage system, and expansion joints, tailored to the expected load.
Excavation and Bed Formation
We perform excavation to the required depth (usually 20-30 cm), precisely shape the pathway bed with the necessary slope for drainage, and mechanically compact it.
Laying the Base Course (Binder)
We compact a 10-15 cm thick layer of crushed stone or gravel, which provides a stable, draining foundation, prevents capillary moisture rise, and improves load-bearing capacity.
Formwork Installation
We precisely install wooden or metal formwork along the pathway's contour, ensuring strict adherence to the dimensions, height, and correct slopes of the future concrete slab.
Reinforcement Laying
We install reinforcement mesh (e.g., Ø6/150x150 mm) or rebar to increase tensile strength and prevent cracks from shrinkage and temperature changes, especially under heavier loads.
Concrete Pouring and Vibration
We pour concrete of the prescribed strength (minimum class C20/25) and compact it with a poker vibrator to remove air voids and achieve maximum density and strength.
Smooth Surface Finishing
We finish the concrete surface with trowels or a power float (helicopter) to achieve a level, smooth, and wear-resistant surface that facilitates water runoff and cleaning.
Creation of Expansion Joints
We cut or form expansion (control) joints every 3-5 meters, which allow for the contraction and expansion of the concrete, preventing uncontrolled cracks from thermal and structural stresses.
Protective Coating and Curing
We apply a curing agent or cover the concrete for controlled hardening, which prevents rapid water evaporation and ensures optimal hydration, increasing the final strength and durability.
The Concrete Pathway Construction Process – From Start to Finish
Our methodology is proof of quality and efficiency. Each stage of the concrete pathway construction is executed with maximum precision and attention to detail, in compliance with the latest construction standards and technologies.
- 1
Phase 1: Site Survey and Planning
An expert team visits the site to assess the geological and hydrological conditions. A laser level measurement is taken to determine elevations and slopes. The optimal width (minimum 80 cm for pedestrian walkways, up to 200 cm for wider paths) and the path's route are discussed. All specific requirements and the client's aesthetic preferences are recorded.
- 2
Phase 2: Excavation and Base Preparation
Upon approval of the plan, excavation is carried out using a mini excavator or manually to a depth of 20-30 cm. All organic debris and unstable layers are removed. The bottom of the excavation is leveled, a 1-2% slope is created for effective drainage, and it is compacted with a vibratory plate to 95% Proctor density. For soft soils, additional stabilization with geotextile may be necessary.
- 3
Phase 3: Laying the Drainage Layer
After compaction, a 10-15 cm thick layer of crushed stone or river gravel with a 16/32 mm fraction is laid. This layer is spread evenly and compacted again with a vibratory plate. It acts as a capillary break, preventing moisture rise, and provides a stable base that distributes loads evenly over the soil. The material is compacted to a density of 1.8-2.0 t/m³.
- 4
Phase 4: Formwork and Reinforcement Installation
The formwork, made of wooden or metal elements, is installed strictly according to the specified levels and contours and is securely braced to withstand the pressure of the concrete. A steel reinforcement mesh (e.g., F6/150x150 mm or F8/200x200 mm for greater loads) is laid, raised on spacers 2-3 cm from the bottom of the concrete slab to be centered within its cross-section.
- 5
Phase 5: Concrete Pouring and Compaction
We use C20/25 or C25/30 class concrete, supplied by certified batching plants, with a slump of 8-12 cm and W4 water impermeability. The concrete is poured in a single pass while fresh and is immediately compacted using a poker vibrator. Vibration removes air voids, increases the mix's density and homogeneity, thereby improving the path's strength and durability.
- 6
Phase 6: Leveling and Initial Smoothing
After compaction, the concrete surface is precisely leveled using an aluminum screed or a laser screeding system. The aim is to create a flat surface that follows the pre-determined slope for water runoff, free of depressions or protrusions. This step is critical for both drainage and the path's aesthetic appearance.
- 7
Phase 7: Final Finishing and Jointing
Once the concrete has reached its initial set and is walkable, it is finished with a trowel (manual or a power trowel) to achieve a smooth, dense surface. Expansion (control) joints are cut every 3-4 meters to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction. The joints are cut to a depth of about 1/3 of the slab's thickness and are later filled with an elastic polyurethane or silicone-based sealant, like Mapeflex PU45 or SikaHyflex-250 Facade.
- 8
Phase 8: Maintenance and Curing
For the first 7-10 days after pouring, the concrete is kept moist—covered with polyethylene film, damp geotextile blankets, or sprayed with a curing agent (e.g., Sika Antisol S). This controlled curing process is essential for achieving maximum strength and minimizing shrinkage and cracking. The path is ready for light pedestrian traffic in 3-5 days and for full load-bearing capacity after 28 days.

High-Quality Materials for Durable Concrete Paths
The selection of proper materials is key to the strength and durability of any concrete path. Infra Remonti EOOD works exclusively with established manufacturers and certified products, guaranteeing long-term reliability.
Concrete C20/25 to C30/37
We use class C20/25 concrete (20 MPa compressive strength after 28 days) for pedestrian paths and C25/30 or C30/37 for paths with heavy loads. It is supplied from certified concrete plants with requirements for water impermeability (W4-W6) and frost resistance (F100-F150), according to EN 206. For Varna and Burgas, sulfate-resistant cement is added for protection against marine corrosion. The slab thickness ranges from 10 to 20 cm.
B500C Reinforcement Mesh
Each concrete path is reinforced with a welded reinforcement mesh of B500C class steel, compliant with BDS EN 10080. Meshes with a Ø6 mm bar diameter and 150x150 mm grid size are used for standard applications, or Ø8 mm with a 200x200 mm grid for heavier loads. Placing the reinforcement 2-3 cm from the bottom of the slab prevents cracking due to shrinkage and temperature changes.
Crushed Stone / Gravel Fraction 16/32 mm
The path's base is constructed from a compacted layer of crushed stone or river gravel with a uniform aggregate size of 16/32 mm. This material provides excellent drainage capacity, prevents capillary moisture rise, and evenly distributes the load onto the subgrade. The thickness of this layer is a minimum of 10-15 cm, compacted to 95% Proctor density, with a compaction coefficient Ks ≥ 0.98.
Elastic Sealants Sika / Mapei
To fill expansion joints, we use high-quality, single-component polyurethane sealants such as SikaFlex-PRO 3WF or Mapeflex PU45. These materials have excellent adhesion to concrete, high elasticity (up to 25% movement capability), and resistance to UV rays, weathering, and chemicals. They ensure the joints are hermetically sealed, preventing the ingress of water and contaminants, thus preserving the path's integrity in the long term.
Curing Agent Sika Antisol S
For the controlled curing of poured concrete, we apply Sika Antisol S – a liquid, film-forming agent with an acrylic base. It creates a film on the concrete surface that prevents the rapid evaporation of water and ensures optimal cement hydration. This minimizes the risk of plastic and structural shrinkage cracks, and improves the final strength, abrasion resistance, and durability of the concrete.
Concrete Admixtures (Sika ViscoCrete, Sika-1)
We use concrete admixtures from Sika to enhance specific properties. Sika ViscoCrete is a superplasticizer that improves the workability of the concrete, allowing for easier placement and compaction at a low water-cement ratio, resulting in denser and stronger concrete. Sika-1 is a water-reducing and waterproofing admixture that decreases the water absorption of the concrete (up to 0.5% by weight), increasing its resistance to freezing and the ingress of aggressive salts, which is especially critical in coastal areas.
